WORLD AUTISM MONTH:
- April is World Autism Month—a time to foster understanding, inclusion, and genuine acceptance of autistic individuals. This month, we're moving beyond awareness to actionable support. We invite you to participate in activities, advocate for inclusion, and celebrate neurodiversity through your own actions. Now it's time to answer the true or false questions from lunch!
- True or False: People with Autism do not like playing games or having fun.
- Students answered false, and you are right! People with Autism do like having fun and playing games, they just may not have the appropriate skills to play the game in the right way.
- True or False: More boys than girls have Autism.
- Students answered true, and you are correct! Based on current diagnosis statistics, boys are significantly more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls, with studies commonly citing a ratio of approximately 4 to 1. Recent data shows about 1 in 27 boys in the U.S. are diagnosed with autism compared to 1 in 116 girls, although some studies suggest girls may be underdiagnosed.
Let's work together to build a more inclusive community!
CLUBS:
- Scholar Bowl: We will have our next match this Monday the 13th at Liberty. Please come to Mr. Leveling's Room right after school on Monday.
HOUSES:
- House Leaderboard: Let’s look at today’s House Leaderboard. Reveur is still in the lead with 891 points, but Onraka is right behind with 870 points! Keep following our CLIMB expectations!
LUNCH MENU:
- Today for lunch, we have a soft pretzel with cheese dipping sauce, and sides of fresh broccoli and roasted carrots.
TODAY IN HISTORY:
- On this day in 1633, people gathered outside a shop window in London to stare at something extraordinary: bananas! These curved, yellow fruits had just arrived from Bermuda, and most Londoners had never seen anything like them before! What's surprising is that these early bananas were probably meant to be cooked rather than eaten fresh, unlike the sweet bananas we enjoy today. The bananas you know and love—called Cavendish bananas—didn't become popular until much later.
DAILY JOKE:
- Before we go, here’s a joke to brighten your morning.
- How do Martians hold their teacups?
- On flying saucers!
- If you have a joke you’d like to include in the announcements or a school appropriate song for the TV playlist, please send it to Ms. Darden on Schoology.
HAVE A GREAT, SAFE WEEKEND!
